Saneka's Legacy is a non profit for environmental education. SLC was created to spread awareness to the public and help spark a passion in everyone to choose conservation. The SLC mission is to educate the community on how to experience, enjoy, and protect Florida's ecosystems without altering or impacting the environment to fit our recreational needs. How do we do this? SLC currently takes on projects such as implementing butterfly gardens, to help bring back more healthy pollinator habitats. SLC also creates and provides educational programs for public events, schools, and community gatherings. Saneka's Legacy's goal is to raise awareness of how important the last remaining natural areas are to protect, as well as how to do just that. The main goal we are trying to achieve is to create a conservation park that highlights preservation with restoring native habitats like the longleaf pine forests. The park would be open to the public, but will be kept as natural as possible. The parks entrance will consist of an education center where school groups can come and learn about the environment.
The name "Saneka" comes from a great dane dog who passed away after battling from lymphoma for 6 months. Saneka's owner and founder of Saneka's Legacy wanted to honor her and create something beautiful that will last forever and make a difference in the world. Saneka was a pure soul who loved to explore the outdoors and was taken to soon, she will forever live on through saneka's legacy.
