On our last day of camp, campers met at Combs park in Shalimar where we learned about Florida's ecosystems, prescribed burns, and how to maintain a healthy habitat. 

Campers then got to paint their own ecosytem!

We finished the day with Free Play at the park, We planted a Native Pollinator garden with plants and materials donated by Wildwood Garden Shoppe and Nursery, Then enjoyed our goodbye BBQ and awards.

On the Fourth day of camp, campers met at Meigs beach in Shalimar where we had a successful beach clean up. We picked up discarded Fireworks, over 1,500 cigarette butts, glass, wrappers and more! After the clean up campers got to learn about sea turtle injuries and even look at some real Xrays to decide what happened thanks to the TDC Coastal resource Department for Okaloosa County.

Later the group then met with Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance members where they learned about the bay, the creatures that call it home, and even got to act as a marine species that had to untangle from marine debris without using their hands to really be able to understand the difficulties marine species face on a daily basis.

The campers got to listen to an amazing presentation put on by the Santa Rosa County Beekeepers Association, they got an up close look at the tools used in Beekeeping, got to taste fresh locally made honey, and learned about the life cycle of honey bees as well as the threats they face!

Before this they were able to search the garden for pollinators which they brought back to examine!

Campers learned about insects and how you identify them, they then got to go around collecting what they think are insects, drawing them then explaining how they know it is in fact an insect.

Campers were all given bug catchers that they were able to keep and take home!

Campers got to get into groups and race against each other to successfully build three different bugs!
